RedHat 5 getting errors on /var when booting off of iSCSI

/var is on a seperate partition than / and both are located on an iSCSI LUN.
Getting errors like:
cannot touch /var/lib/random-seed: No such file or directory

Anaconda does not properly set the fstab variables at install time. Only / is marked as _rnetdev which makes rc.sysinit mount and check it.
Change the _netdev mount option in /etc/fstab to be _rnetdev for /var. It should then mount and check the partition when booting.
